FLORENCE AS YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IT

Do you have the chance to spend a whole day in Florence? Are you fond of walking outdoors? We recommend you a new and original tour fully described here below, a circular itinerary going through the historical city centre uphill to the scenic area of Florence and back down again to the centre. 
Leaving our hotel, turn left (southwest) and continue straight towards the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Circling around it on the front you can admire Piazza San Giovanni, the universal symbol of the Renaissance and famous World Heritage Site.
At your discretion, you can take the opportunity to visit the interior of the Cathedral or the Baptistery of San Giovanni and then proceed towards the main route, via de'Calzaiuoli, to reach the beautiful Piazza della Signoria, ancient political centre during the Renaissance, today City Hall of Florence.
We recommend you to stop by one of the several bistros overlooking the piazza for a drink while admiring the beautiful view of the Palazzo Vecchio, the Loggia de 'Lanzi to its left and the fountain of Neptune.

Once you'll be refreshed, continue towards the river Arno crossing it from Ponte Vecchio, renowned for its history and the luxury of the small and precious jewelers situated on the bridge. Turn left after you will have crossed the bridge onto the Lungarno Torrigiani and Serristori until you will reach Piazza Poggi where the high San Niccolò Tower stands.
Going up the Poggi steps you will join a nice walk through the gardens of the winding route leading to Piazzale Michelangelo, famous scenic site of the city. This wide viewpoint, taking its name from a small-scale bronze copy of Michelangelo’s David statue, will offer you an enchanting and romantic view of Florence and the opportunity to take great effect pictures. 


Taking the Viale Galileo Galilei, you can enjoy a pleasant walk in the long tree lined road surrounded by the green of the enchanting parks and villas all around, until you arrive at a widening where a street, via Pian de'Giullari, is leading uphill on your left. You will have the chance to know the narrow streets of the ancient town where the physicist Galileo Galilei lived for several years and where he completed several studies and discoveries. You can still see the house where he lived.
Facing the house of Galileo the storic restaurant "Omero"( http://www.ristoranteomero.it), a classy and typical location, will offer you the option of a quick snack or an authentic Tuscan lunch. Refreshed from your break now come down again via Pian de'Giullari until the intersection with Viale Galileo Galilei and go straight to Via San Leonardo.
The stone pavement of the narrow lane get your memory back to images of a medieval village. The lane will open down finally to a small square where the massive Fort Belvedere and the last remnants of the massive walls of the city rise.

Continuing along the street changing its name to Costa San Giorgio you will reach the entrance of one of the most hidden and beautiful historical gardens of Florence: the Bardini Garden. The scenic part of the garden is the long baroque staircase that ends at a viewpoint overlooking the old town giving you a breathtaking view of Florence.

Now coming to the end of your itinerary go down again until you reach Ponte Vecchio and follow the same way back to the hotel.
